Meet the people behind the biodiversity strategy

South Okanagan Similkameen Biodiversity Conservation Strategy Team

It takes a whole community to raise a child, and a team of dedicated professionals to move forward our Biodiversity Conservation Strategy. Here are some of the people that are working hard behind the scenes with our Technical and Steering Committees.

Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Alliance, Margaret Holm – SOSCP partner OSCA is assisting with fundraising and project management for the strategy. Best known for the Meadowlark Festival, OSCA also delivers targeted environmental education and extension for professionals, schools, industry groups, and public throughout the South Okanagan Similkameen.

Caslys Consulting, Ann Blyth – Caslys has undertaken the monumental task of developing the Mapping Framework and Analysis for the strategy. Ann was the principle GIS consultant on the Metro Vancouver Biodiversity Strategy. She has 25 years of experience in GIS, remote sensing, land use planning and wildlife mapping work for the NGO and private sector.

Dovetail Consulting, Sue Abs, Julie Gardner, Brian Evans – Dovetail is assisting the SOSCP with an Engagement Strategy for the project. Dovetail’s experience in building cooperative relationships, Conservation Area Design Initiatives, land and marine planning projects with First Nations clients, various levels of governments and NGOs is renowned at home and abroad.

Insight Environmental, Kellie Garcia - Insight is a Kelowna-based consulting firm that works with NGOs, public and private sector clients on research, technical writing for environmental reports and strategies, and organizing and facilitating workshops and presentations for a wide array of sectors. Kellie is assisting with the development of the strategy document and editorial process.

Water’s Edge Consulting,  Jillian Tamblyn – With a background in environmental planning, Jillian is assisting the Technical Committee with interpretation of summary statistics and providing guidance on the display and format of map products. She is also assisting with the format and language for the strategy document and bibliography.
